What this page is for
Eight megabytes was the default upload cap on Discord for years, and plenty of forums, support desks, chat bots and game communities copied it. It is still a common ceiling.
This page picks the bitrate and resolution that fit your clip into 8 MB and gives you a standard MP4.
The rule: 8 MB, and where it came from
8 MB was Discord's free upload limit until 2023. Discord has since moved to 20 MB for free accounts (August 2026), but many sites and bots never followed. If you are posting to Discord itself, the Discord page uses the current limits.
We aim about 7 percent under 8,000,000 bytes, so the file also clears systems that measure 8 MB as 8,388,608 bytes.
Worked example
60 second gameplay clip, 1080p60, 140 MB. For 8 MB the budget is about 990 kbps.
Audio takes 96 kbps and video about 900 kbps at 540p.
Result: an MP4 near 7.4 MB.

Questions
How long a clip fits in 8 MB?
About a minute looks acceptable at 540p. Two minutes drops to 360p or 432p. Longer than that, trim it.
Why does gameplay look worse than a talking-head clip?
Fast motion needs far more data per second than a still scene. At a fixed size, busy footage always gives up more detail.
Does it keep 60 fps?
It keeps the source frame rate. At 8 MB you may get a cleaner picture from a lower resolution, which the page picks for you.

No. It is processed in your browser.
